MacDonalds and Stirfry

So this is my beautiful locker...

We took a bus to KGU this morning because we decided to buy groceries afterwards and didn't want to haul them on our bikes.

While Shanikia was in class, Alex and I decided to try out the MacDonalds on campus.

And we found this awesome line of vending machines...

Shanikia and I went to Fresco. I remembered to take a picture this time. In Japanese grocery stores, you bag your own groceries.

Shanikia and I cooked "American style stir fry." Suddenly our unit became very popular...




And we still had some left! I know what I'm having tomorrow...

Not Much to Report...

It's sunday and tomorrow, afternoon classes start. Morning classes start Tuesday. They still haven't post the SUMI E class times yet so tomorrow I'm going in to check and see. Other than that I have no classes.

The homestay students left us today. <.> I will miss them! But hopefully we will see them on campus.

So with only two people per room max now, We started cleaning things up.

Okasan and Otosan brought us kitchen appliances, pots and pans and things to cook with since today was our first day they allowed us to cook in Seminar House. Yay!

So we bought food to cook!

Oh and someone made a hat for Pooky.

Most of the day I did laundry and rested...

I made "Crazy Jane" chicken with onions and potatoes for Iku chan and I. They apparently don't have red potatoes in Japan. Iku had never head of them, only gold and sweet.

Unfortunately, we forgot to take a picture of the food before we ate it. Guess we were too hungry...

Shanikia made "Some Kind of Chicken," a recipe she made up. But it smelled really good.

Oh! and we finally found bread! And it's not sweet bread either! They sell it at Fresco.

A Break From Orientation

Today has been a long day.

I had to go to the university for my Language Lab orientation. After that I came back to Seminar house for lunch. Just as Shamika came in from the grocery store, she got a call on her cell from Elyse on the floor above us. She said she had broken her foot and needed help. We went upstairs to find her alone in her unit. She said it had started hurting during the Kyoto trip yesterday, but she stepped wrong on it today and it hurt extremely bad. She could not walk. Shamikia called Ikue-san- one of the RAs and we got Okasan to look at it. She wrapped it and called the CIE. She said since Elyse did not want an ambulance, she must pay for a taxi. Elyse did not have her insurance card because she said the CIE had it so she would have to pay the hospital and then get reimbursed. A number of us international students pulled together some money for the taxi and some of the hospital bills. I haven't seen her since she left in the taxi.

On a lighter note, this is "Pooky." I'm not sure what "he" is, but he's Meri and Cory's "pet." They found him this morning walking to Fresco, a grocery store. ...No wait, jus asked Ikue-san. She says "he" is a chestnut and that you peel the prickly outer covering off to get to the nut. Too bad "Pooky" is too cute to eat...
Tonight to celebrate the homestay students' last night with us, we in Seminar House 3 all went out together down to Hirakata-shi- (downtown.)

We actually got most of us in one elevator...

We went to this really nice restaurant where it is famous for having all it's individual items for 280 yen... before tax...

Neat idea. All the tables had a call button for service.


Alex and I shared a table with Hart from Oklahoma and Eriko-san.
They had bottomless cabbage with a light dressing on it. Very good!
We all bought one meat item and shared so we could try a bit of everything.

Afterwards we decided there wasn't enough time for Karaoke since we had to be back at Seminar House by 11 or be locked out for the night. So half of us went to an arcade, a quarter to the liquor store, and the rest, including me, went home for a shower, which I will go take after typing this. In fact, I'm going to stop now. Goodnight everybody!
