Shinsaibashi: Sweets Paradise and Americamura

Today they posted the times for the midterm exams...

The trees are starting to turn! Well... sorta...

They come out with different burgers often here in Japan...

I've got a cold so I have to wear a mask...

It's not so bad.

Tomorrow is Mei's 21st birthday! So since we will all be in Hiroshima, we celebrated tonight.

We took the Keihan line to Yodoyabashi and from there we took the subway to Shisaibashi.

We went to Sweets Paradise for dinner. It's an all you can eat buffet, famous for it's sweets!

Very modern layout. I felt like we were in a watermelon...

It was on the 6th floor.

You purchase a ticket for 1480 yen for all you can eat.

Then give it to the waiter who seats you.

See watermelon yet?

My first plate. I ended up with three...

The birthday girl!

Clockwise from bottom left: Shanikia, me, Risa, Jennifer, Cameron, Liz, Theresa, Mei, Brooke, and Sarah.

Afterwards Shanikia and I walked around Shinsaibashi and wandered into Americamura- "America town"

OMG Krispy Kreme! Too bad I was too full from Sweets Paradise to get a doughnut.

The Disney store here is very different from the one I've seen in Memphis.

It's like viewing something you've seen all your life through someone else's eyes...

So orderly and simple compared to the chaotic and personalized store I know.

Another thing I noticed, instead of focusing on princesses and balancing it with what they think boys like in their movies, the Japanese store focuses on the cutesy romantic relationships in Disney movies.

The Statue of Liberty in Americamura

Trash is sorted everywhere, even in train stations...

A statue of a little girl being picked on by kids with kimonos made of flowers in Hirakata station...

A bunch of high school students were practicing hip hop and break dancing at Hirakata station while we were there waiting for the bus.

Anyways, I have to get up at 5:30 tomorrow morning to go to Hiroshima so I'm going to call it a night.
